Aid available for jobless in Saline County residents

If you lost your job due to one of the severe storms and tornadoes in the spate of bad weather beginning on April 23 and you live in Saline County, there is help available.
The local office for the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services in Benton, 400 Edison Avenue, (501) 776-2974, is offering disaster unemployment assistance.
Bring your social security card, the name and address of your employer and documents verifying income such as an income tax statement, recent pay stubs or W-2 forms.
Workforce employees will work with those of you that have lost your documents because of the weather.
Claims must be filed by June 3. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Eligibility is based on working in the storm-effected area or being scheduled to work in the area. The disaster had to have caused your unemployment or an injury that kept you from working or if the storm made you the head of household needing employment because of the storm-related death of the previous head of household. Call (501) 776-2974 for more information.
