The Arkansas State Plant Board regulates the sale of woody plants, trees and shrubs in Arkansas. Any company that sells woody plants to customers must have a plant license from the Arkansas State Plant Board.
The license can be a nursery landscape contractor's license, a nursery dealer's license or a landscape contractor's license. Only one of the three licenses is necessary per company.
Any company applying pesticides for customers must have a pest control license from the Arkansas State Plant Board. Pesticides include insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.
The Plant Board does not regulate installation of grass sod, dirt work, retaining walls, rock work or irrigation systems.
Any company performing commercial landscaping totaling $20,000 or more, including materials, labor and profit, is required to have a landscape contractor's license from the contractor's licensing board.
Make sure all State as well as Village permits are in place when landscaping with woody plants, trees and shrubs.
