Former POA general manager Dave Johnston took a few minutes in his report before the POA board to address a recent problem with an ambulance response in the Village.
On August 21, at 7:48 a.m. the last of the three ALS units was dispatched to a call. When all three Village ambulances are out on calls a fourth unit is automatically dispatched to the Village from Hot Springs to cover any emergency calls.
At 7:50 a.m. dispatch received a call for medical assistance from the pickleball court. The ambulance unit, although en route, did not arrive until 8:20 a.m.
The fourth ambulance scenario usually only happens twice a year according to Johnston. He added, "90-percent of the calls are responded to within 8.95 minutes, just shy of nine minutes."
Johnston felt compelled to discuss this matter following a complaint that response time was 45 minutes. In reality the response took 30 minutes.
