Today's news

I hope you all had a restful Labor Day. I did not labor yesterday, so no news.

There's a Hot Springs Village budget overview meeting, open to the public, tomorrow at the Ouachita activities building from noon to 1 p.m., immediately following the board meeting. The budget overview is for the proposed 2015 budget. Everyone interested in where your assessment dollars go should attend.

Keith Salisbury and the Hot Springs Village Audubon Society donated more than 20 tree-identification tags along the Magellan Beaver Dam Trail.

The Magellan Golf Course is closed today.

Isabella Golf Course is undergoing aerification.

It's Washington State week around the Village. Visitors from Washington will pay member rates for Village amenities.

The working board meeting this week will host discussions on the following: the appointment of James Mahan for the open position on the public works committee; the appointments of John Lands and George Tenuta for open positions on the recreation committee; a proposal to modernize the POA's accounting and operations software programs; a proposed revision of bylaws; and, the annual assessment increase by consumer price index.

The POA board meets at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in the Ouachita activities building at the Ponce de Leon Center.
