Celebrating Dave Major's life
The Hot Springs Village Community has lost a great voice! Two weeks after David Major (JoAnn) arrived in HSV in 1998, he was cast as Tevye in the Village Players’ “ Fiddler on the Roof”. The rest is history! Dave went on to capture the hearts of Village audiences as Emile in “South Pacific" and Don Quixote, the “Man of LaMancha”. His “Impossible Dream” will not be forgotten. He was a star in “Just Cole Porter”, “The Gift of Gershwin” and “Broadway in Review”.
His theater talents also included Producer of The Young People’s Theater productions of 2001,’03, ‘05 and again in 2012. He appeared many times in Village Variety Shows, always wowing the audiences.
Everywhere Dave went in the Village, he was recognized for his beautiful baritone voice. He was the “Boy” Singer with the Big Band for many years and a main stay in the Village Chorale since its inception. He was frequently asked to narrate.
Dave was also very active in the HS/HSV Symphony Guild, serving on the Board in various positions. He and daughter Pam were presented in a joint concert sponsored by the Guild.
A Memorial Service honoring Dave’s memory will be held at Gross Funeral Home on Higdon Ferry Rd. in Hot Springs, on Monday, March 23,2015, at 10:30 AM. His beloved Village Chorale will sing and a former Player, Rabbi Sheldon Kleinman, will officiate.
