The Village Heifer Club will hold its last general meeting before the Living Gift Market on October 27, at 2 p.m at Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian.
Final preparations for the Living Gift Market, November 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coronado Center will be made.
The chief agricultural advisor to Heifer International will be the guest speaker. Heifer is expanding its services in the United States. Its programs are currently serving 25 states in addition to its international giving.
Heifer International provides pregnant animals to poor families around the world. With each animal comes instructions in animal husbandry. The families learn to care for their animal and the animal supplies a source for food an industry. Some of the animals produce milk, eggs and honey for the families and give them extra to trade or sell.
Each April families are asked to pass on the gift by giving the offspring away to another family in need. Heifer’s gift keeps giving providing more families with a food and income source.
The Village Heifer's club Living Gift Market allows patrons to give an animal in an other's name as a holiday gift. There will be calligraphers available at the market to craft a special card in recognition of the gift.
There will also be Heifer products and local natural products available for sale at the market. Last year goat soap was a big selling item.
Don't forget to come shop for the holidays and give a tax deductible gift at the same time. The Living Gift Market is November 13 at the Coronado Center.
Come hear about the mission of Heifer's agricultural arm on October 27 at Kirk in the Pines.
