The annual blessing of the animals sponsored by HSV Animal Welfare League is this Tuesday.
Pastor Ross Worch of Community of Joy Lutheran Church will officiate at a non-denominational ceremony for all Villagers and their pets. Each pet will receive an individual blessing at the conclusion of Pastor Worch's remarks.
The blessing will take place at the Ponce De Leon Center under the Canopy, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 12.
For their safety, all dogs must be on leashes and all cats and small animals in carriers. Pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge will also be remembered. Please bring a photo of the pet that has been a part of your life.
No donations will be taken but AWL will collect bags of dry cat or dog food for distribution to families in need. The food may be brought to the Blessing ceremony.
Donated pet food helps those who are struggling to keep their pets in their homes and helps to prevent "dumping" and overcrowding at area shelters. AWL will deliver donated food to Jackson House food pantry. Jackson House has many requests for pet food and they welcome the donations collected by AWL each year.
