According to Village POA
general manager Scott Randall the initial water main break at DeSoto Boulevard
and Cortez Road
on Friday, Oct. 19, caused two more water main breaks before the event was
brought under control. Initially, a 16-inch main was closed for 18 hours while
getting a temporary fix.
An additional break took
place on Friday afternoon and another break on Saturday morning, Oct. 20. Randall
said one of the breaks was caused by a contractor. Randall added 400,000
gallons of water were lost during the water main breaks over the weekend.
He emphasized no new
restrictions are in place but all Villagers are asked to continue conserving
water usage, especially outdoors, until further notice.
There was no contamination,
so no boil order was put in place and there was no loss of service. A permanent
fix requires ordering parts which may take two to four weeks before arrival and
a permanent fix can be completed.
