AWL meets with POA staff
Jerry Jamrich, president of the Village Animal Welfare League, summarized a recent meeting with POA general manager Scott Randall and planning and inspections director Steve White. "The two hour meeting covered a variety of topics. In general, the tone and direction of the meeting was very positive. At the present time, there is no immediate threat the animal shelter will be closed. We spent very little time discussing that and instead we agreed to work on a plan to keep our shelter open and operating in a partnership environment with mutually agreed to terms and conditions. This would not mean business as usual. We made it perfectly clear that substantial changes would need to be made to allow both organizations to operate effectively. Randall is working on a general outline of an agreement that no longer places us in adversarial positions and hopefully will blend the needs of both organizations into a shelter with common goals and objectives. We are optimistic that we can come to an agreement on the shelter of the future. We will stay focused on these issues until they are resolved. Thanks to all for your spirit and support during tough times."
