New HSV POA board members

KVRE's highlights from the Hot Springs Village Police Department

March 18

A car hit a deer on DeSoto Boulevard near Barcelona Road. The car sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. Officers were unable to find the deer.

There was a head-on collision at Mano Way near Hidalgo Drive. Both cars sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. One woman was cited with driving left of center and has a court date in April. The other woman was checked out by Lifenet with chest pains.

A politician was campaigning on Village property outside the east gate. She was asked to move off property.

A Sanchez Place man complained of barking dogs in the neighborhood.

March 19

A Caceres Way man wanted to report his wife for stealing his files. The officer advised the man the files belonged equally to his wife.

A visiting couple was having difficulty finding a parking space for their RV on Amable Lane.

An Almazon Way man said his identity was stolen when someone used his social security number to file annual Federal taxes.

A Sosegado Way man said his artificial flowers were missing from a clay flower pot in his yard.

There was a car/deer accident on Balearic Road near the Fuel Stop. Animal Control was notified to pick up the dead deer.

March 20

A Redinna Lane man was ticketed on DeSoto Boulevard for speeding and no driver's license. He was given an April court date.

Animal Control was notified to pick up a dead deer in the roadway on DeSoto Boulevard near Ensenada.

A Tarifa Lane man reported a possible scam. The caller told him he won a new car but needed to send a $250 money pack scratch card from Walgreen’s or Wal-Mart’s. It was a scam.

A Perralena Way woman said an old friend from California was stalking her on facebook and calling her. He said he was coming for her in the Village. Officers are providing extra patrols.

There was another barking dog complaint on Sanchez Place.

There was a barking dog complaint on Murcia Way.

An Adoracion Court man complained of a light shining in his windows from across the bay from a Sanchez Place home. Although the Sanchez Place man did not have to do anything he adjusted the light so it was not shining across the bay.

March 21

Animal Control was notified to pick up a dead deer in the ditch beside Clubhouse Drive and DeSoto Boulevard. 

March 22

There was a two car accident at Barcelona Road and Cortez Road. One man was issued a citation for failure to yield and given an April court date. His car was totaled. The other car sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. Neither man was hurt.

March 23

Village officers assisted Garland County Sheriff’s Office by detaining suspected felons near McCann’s Shell on Highway 7 after an officer observed the couple of suspected felons exit the Village at the west gate.

An Onda Lane man said his 14 foot green Rogue canoe was missing from his residence.

March 24

An Esplandor couple had difficulty getting a landscaper to work. The landscaper eventually returned the $500 deposit.

A drivers license was found and turned into lost and found at the police department.

There was a two car accident on DeSoto Boulevard at the Small Games Area. One car rear-ended another while the driver of the following car was watching a coyote to the side of the road instead of the traffic in front of her. The car in front sustained approximately $500 in damages. The following car was totaled.

A truck parked along the roadside on Barcelona and Malaga was blocking the stop sign view. Officers asked the truck to move so it wasn’t blocking the view from the stop sign.

An officer advised two fishermen fishing in Lake Lago was not allowed. They apologized and moved on.

A Cullerendo Way woman said she heard gunshots in the area.

Officers assisted when divorce papers were served on S. Badalona Drive.

Gunshots were heard in the area of Dulzura Way.

A Leno Circle women said she was getting harassing texts from her ex-boyfriend. The ex was warned to leave her alone.

An officer assisted a visitor in finding the Los Lagos timeshares.

March 25

A Joya Lane woman said she suffered a dog bite by a Hartura Way dog that came running out of its residence. She did not want to pursue charges.

A Pyrenees Way woman said her $100 planter was missing.

An officer picked up two runaway dogs and transported them to the Animal Shelter.

A car went into the ditch on Promesa Place. The driver said he doesn’t drive well at night and was unaware he wasn’t driving on the roadway. He was cited with careless or prohibited driving with a Saline County court date in May.

There were more harassing text messages on Leno Circle.

Animal Control will follow up on a complaint about dogs barking and not having food and water on Sanchez Place.

March 26

A buck that was hit by a car on DeSoto Boulevard near Ponce de Leon was euthanized.

There was a domestic disturbance on Cambre Circle.

KVRE's Hot Springs Village Police Department Reports

March 13

A woman was stopped for running a stop sign at Fresno Road and Carmona Road. She was cited with Failing to Stop and given a Garland County Court date. She was further charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor because there was a two month old infant in a car seat in the backseat of the car. The woman refused to accept the citations until she calmed down.

A Ballobar Way man said it appeared someone had thrown eggs at his home. It was an easy clean up.

An officer offered a ride to a Sanchez Place man walking along DeSoto Boulevard near Ponce de Leon Drive.

March 14

A medium sized Golden Retriever on Romero Lane was standing in its yard barking at a passing couple when the Cortez Circle man came after the dog with a stick saying it almost attacked him and his wife.  Luckily, there was a witness that saw the incident confirming the dog was in its own yard and acting defensively against the man running at it with a stick. No citations were issued.

More noise complaints on Frontera Circle.

A Pizarro Drive woman got a call saying her computer needed to be fixed and it would cost her $150 for it to be done by a Deleware man. Her system was subsequently hacked. In a new twist she was told she would be reimbursed by Windows to the tune of $400. The woman has changed her contact information and banking information.

A Laguna Way man believes a passing car shot Bbs at his truck.

A car alarm went off on Frontera Circle.

Another Pizarro Drive woman reported an attempted computer scam by phone.

Officers stopped a car that just breezed through the red light at the west gate. The male driver said they were going to a viewing at Cedervale Cemetery. The viewing was the next night at Caruth Funeral Home. The couple was escorted out of the Village.

A Reddina Lane woman said there was an intoxicated man at her door and he wouldn’t go away. The man does not live in the Village and was gone when police arrived.

There was a loud music complaint on Malaga Way. The music was off when an officer arrived.

An officer was dispatched to Pyrenees in reference to a stolen car. The information was not clear but the officer made a stolen vehicle report.

March 15

There was a report of a loud noise on Frontera Circle.

There was a traffic complaint of drag racing in the area of Balearic Road and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. The area was monitored for a while but nothing out of the ordinary was noted.

March 16

A Hendaye Way man said there was an injured deer in his backyard.  The deer had a broken back and was euthanized.

A Village woman thought someone was taking her mail. There was no proof to indicate that was the case.

A Martos Place man said he got a scam call about winning a lottery.

Officers kept the peace while a Caceres Way couple separated their belongings.

A man said his car slipped in the sand near the Balboa gate causing the car to slide into the gate causing approximately $2,000 in damages to his car and making the gate inoperable.

March 17

Someone reported a large sinkhole at Segovia Drive and North Badalona. When officers checked, it was just a small depression not a large sinkhole.

There was a jewelry theft of over $1,000 reported on Emauel Drive. Officers are investigating.

A Fineza Way man said he hit a deer on Balearic Road just east of Murillo Way. His car sustained approximately $3,000 in damages.

An Alba Circle couple said their dog was stuck under their home. The dog was trapped in a closed wall space. Captain Fallon was able to reach up and retrieve the dog with was indeed trapped inside the wall.

March 18

An Alina Lane woman was afraid she might have a fire under here sink where it was leaking near her dishwasher and garbage disposal. An officer unplugged the appliances and the Fire Captain told her there would be no problem overnight.

KVRE's highlights from the Hot Springs Village Police

February 7

A Sanchez Place woman reported a barking dog. No one was at home where the dogs were barking in a backyard. The officer told the woman he would check back throughout the day to talk to the dogs’ owner.

A care provider on Reddina Way met with resistance from her charge’s family. Officers talked to the charge and she wanted her care provider’s assistance. The family member acquiesced.

An Arias Way woman complained of hearing a stereo with the bass turned way up for over a month. A noisy heat pump on Alina Lane was discovered as the noise maker.

A Silver Toyota pickup hit a power pole on Highway 7 bringing down power lines. No one was in the truck when officers arrived in the area.

An officer assisted the Fire Department on El Espinar Circle. He made sure the residents were out of the home. There was a smell of smoke inside the house but no fire was found.

February 8

A Sarria Lane woman asked officers to come get a gun. The gun had belonged to her deceased husband and the woman had no use for it. She donated it to the HSV Police Department.

A Promesa Place man received notice that he had to make good on two hot checks or be arrested. He said it would not be easy but he would try to pay.

A Promesa Place man said he found a woman’s purse in his car. The purse is in the police lost and found.

An Alamito Lane woman said a car alarm was going off. The car owner said there was no problem with the car.

March 9

A dog nipped at another dog at the dog park. Neither dog was injured. No citations were issued.

An officer was sent to investigate a female panhandler at the west gate. The woman got in her truck and left the area when asked.

A Justa Via Lane woman asked officers to keep the peace when her ex-live-in-boyfriend arrived. The ex removed his personal belongings and tools without incidence.

A Marinero Lane man could not find his cell phone and called 911 for help.

A Sanchez Place man complained of a dog barking. The dogs stopped barking after he made the complaint.

There was a disabled car on ElCano Drive. The woman driver was late for a prayer meeting and did not realize she left her car in the roadway. She moved the car and apologized for the trouble.

A Santona Way man was served with a warrant for assault, first degree. He was transported to Garland County Detention Center. He had allegedly pointed a Walther P99 BB gun at another Villager.

March 10

A Cartaya Way woman said UAMS was billing her insurance company for services she did not receive. She was reporting the fraud.

A Sierra Drive man reported a telephone scam.

March 11

A Benton man was warned trout lines were not permitted in the Village.

A Lerida Circle man thinks his ex-wife was looking in his carport with a flashlight on a night he is usually not home.

An officer asked Animal Control to investigate a Sanchez Place couple for mal-nourishing their three dogs. One of the puppies appeared to have an injured leg.

March 12

There was a tree blocking the roadway at Carmona Road and Barcelona Road. The tree was moved.

A caller said she was talking to a Sanchez Place woman when Sanchez Place woman screamed and hung up the phone. Officers checked, the couple on Sanchez Place was fine.

There were three dogs running in the roadway at DeSoto Boulevard and Andorra Way. One dog was caught, the owner was identified and came to get his dog.

The Sanchez Place couple’s larger dog was loose and acting strangely. Animal Control picked up the one dog.

A Perralena Way woman asked officers to remove her boyfriend from her front yard.

KVRE's Hot Springs Village Police Reports

February 19

An officer advised a Jardin Lane woman that she should stay on the line when she dials 911 by mistake to tell the dispatcher it was a mistake, that way she would keep the police from unnecessarily coming to her door.

An officer warned a Halcon Place woman that it was very dangerous and against the law to drive on a flat tire. She promised she would have her husband fix the tire.

An Espectro Way man reported a scam where someone in England was attempting to rent out his house. He had no intention of renting his home.

A Villager lost his wallet and reported it at the dispatch window at the police department. The wallet was lost on a trip from Shreveport to the Village.

A man was cited with driving while intoxicated third, refusal to submit and driving on suspended after having a one car collision on DeSoto Boulevard.

An Esplendor Way family had a bat in one of the bedrooms. Several attempts were made to remove the bat without success. The bat had to be killed before removal. The bat has been sent for rabies testing. The family was advised to have a pest control expert check the house for more bats.

February 20

A POA maintenance worker reported a deer/truck collision. There was approximately $750 in damages to the truck.

There was a one car accident on West Villena Drive at del Camino Lane. The woman driver over-corrected her car after either entering the oncoming traffic lane or avoiding a car in her lane. Her car hit an embankment flipping the car. There was approximately $1,500 in damages to the car.

A runaway party barge was captured by a Hartura Way man. The boat belonged to a Tiburon Way woman. She made arrangements to retrieve her boat.

There was a one car accident on DeSoto Boulevard near Toledo Drive. No one was injured.

There was a car/deer accident on Fresno Road near DeSoto Boulevard. A car slowed for two deer to cross in front when a third deer ran into the side of the car.

February 21

A woman missed her turn into the Village at Highway 5, backed up, found herself in the ditch. There were no injuries.

Officers helped keep the peace while a San Sebastian Way couple parted company.

February 22

An Arias Way woman was advised to quit leaving bags of dog feces on the side of the road.

A Perralean Way woman was advised there was a burn ban in effect in Garland County. She extinguished her bonfire.

There was a small car fire on Guadalajara Lane. The fire was out before the fire department arrived.

A Zarpa Way man said a 300 and 35 pound rock appeared in his front yard that morning. Public works will remove the rock.

February 23

A woman found a baseball glove at the dog park. It is now at the police station.

A Panorama Drive woman reported a scam discovered when she attempted to file her tax return and discovered someone else filed with her social security number.

February 24

There was a disabled car on the side of DeSoto Boulevard near Seville Lane. The owner said the drive shaft was broken. He was asked to have the car towed away.

February 25

Eight mailboxes were knocked over in Valencia Courts. The base connecting the boxes was sheared off.

February 26

There was a 911 hang up on Soga Place. The resident was setting up his LifeLine alarm and it must have accidentally activated.

An officer requested Animal Control check on large dogs running around a property on Montoro Lane.

There was a break-in at a vacant Argomaniz Way residence.

Officers arrested a Loyola Place man on an outstanding Benton warrant.

February 27

There was a refrigerator missing from a Sur Way residence.

An officer returned a missing file to a Sur Way resident.

A La Vista Lane man was missing his tail pipe caps valued at approximately $150.

A Santona Way man said an Aldaya Lane man came to his house and pulled a handgun on him.

A Village woman appears to be the victim of a scam involving money wired in and out of bank accounts. Village officers will continue to investigate this matter.

Officers had a towing company pick up and abandoned car in the roadway on DeSoto Boulevard between Sonora Way and Emperado Way.

February 28

A Village woman reported a credit card used in a fraudulent manner.

A visiting couple were advised they could not sleep in a car in the Village.

March 1

A Gancho Lane woman was told to keep her children off of the DeSoto Golf Course.

A Durango Way woman was told to keep her children off of the DeSoto Golf Course.

March 2

An officer on patrol had to chip ice off of the Danville/Balearic gate so it would work.

A Gandesa Way woman accidentally locked her keys in her car.

March 2

A woman abandoned her car in the ice on Santa Maria and requested a ride home to Daganza Place.

March 3

A Palma Way woman said there was an ATV going up and down her street.

A car slid off the road and into a ditch on Salvatierra Way. The driver was not injured but the car sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

March 4

A car went into the ditch on San Pablo Way.

Officers drove a stranded motorist to her home on Perraleana Way from Perralena Lane.

A man lost control of his car on the ice of Salvatierra Way and ended up in the ditch. The driver was uninjured but the car had approximately $10,000 in damages.

A Promesa Place man was having difficulty with his telephone service provider and was unable to contact the number he was dialing. All his calls went to 911.

March 5

An officers directed traffic at DeSoto Boulevard and Calella Road while work was performed on the over head stop light.

A Halcon Place visitor was so desperate to get rid of her mooching boyfriend that she paid for the cab to get him out of the Village.

There was a disabled car in the area of Cortez Road and Mariposa Way. The driver said his transmission stopped pulling. A tow truck was called.

March 6

A La Vega Lane woman reported a telephone scam with someone asking for her social security number.

There was a disabled car in the area of DeSoto Boulevard and Minorca Road. The car was out of gas. Officers stayed until someone brought the driver gas.

A Cambre Circle man was arrested for driving will intoxicated, driving on suspended for DWI and no proof of insurance.

A Jessieville man said someone is using his name to try and get work in the Village. The impersonator does sub-par work, only accepts cash and does not have a work pass.
